Fire, A Bird & A Squat

What a great way to spend a Friday afternoon. Fire swords, a parrot and the painted up squat to die for. Upon agreeing to shoot a portrait of Nai’s band, I decided maybe I do need that sexy getaway off to the jungle beachy waters of Queensland. But then again, I do love the concrete jungle shoots here such as the one of this particular style. The only downer was the aftermath of the black sooty nostrils. But a great persona these guys have:

Until next week. Xxx

St. Kilda Festival and Stencil Costumes

Here are my stenciled costumes I made for the Nahuatl Sound System’s St. Kilda Festival gigs:

Was a little fumigated but in the long run of this little side project, I think I learned to love street art on a good cheap pin stripped suit.

Pink and Red T Shirt on Sergio, the head scarf on Pickles, The Suit Jacket on Dale, the Waistcoat Vest on Kian, the Cropped White Jacket and head piece on Kata and the TShirt Vest on Fernando by me.

Nai’s jumpsuit and Head Piece painted by me:

My musical fashion influence: Lee Scratch Perry meets The Clash. Maybe next time a squeeze in a little Tito Puente. If you have no clue what I am talking about, you best be coming around to the next Nahuatl gig, or have a good listen online for free!!

More photos and videos of these events are on the Nahuatl Sound System Facebook page:!/pages/Nahuatl-Sound-System/112050488819654

Until next time.

Nahuatl Sound System @ the Evelyn Hotel

Tropical Space Lab!! 15/1/11

As for the Nahuatl Sound System 2011 hit off well for their first gig of the year Tropical Space Lab at Bar Open in Fitzroy last Sat. As grungy dub as ever the girls where who really hit this gig off. Nai was on fire with her performance and Kathleen on a more African journey in dance.  There is now a new percussion man as well and with John, made a kick ass duo. I was more of a booty dancer than a dubber. For the ladies in Melbourne that’s always a good sign.

Anyways here are my photos:

See you at the next gig Sat 29/1/11 Sound Nomada! with Woohoo Revue and Klvo at the Evelyn Hotel, be there.

For more info check out Nahuatl Sound System on Facebook:

From my feet and the suitcase came a sound system with a dub base vibe and some latino cumbia and I had to collaborate while I had some of that vibe in me so I decided to make a few little videos and photos for my man’s band:

(To view my videos, you’ll have to come to the gig in Feb at the St.Kilda Festival haha.)
See you in FEB x
